The American Heart Association PALS course gives healthcare professionals the knowledge and skills to better recognize and treat critically ill infants and children.
The course uses a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency management of pediatric patients approaching or already in respiratory or cardiac arrest.
The course covers treatment beyond the first few emergency minutes and goes through stabilizing patients or transport phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital.

Course Length: FULL COURSE is 2 complete days. Renewal course is 1 complete day. To be eligible to take the renewal course, you must be in possession of a current, non-expired, American Heart Association PALS Card at the beginning of class.

Course Content:

• Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardio-pulmonary arrest
• The systematic approach to pediatric assessment
• Effective respiratory management
• Validate skills for 1- and 2-person CPR and AED skills for infant  and child
• Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
• Intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration
• Effective resuscitation team dynamics

Renewals: To be eligible to take the renewal course, you must be in possession of a current, non-expired, American Heart Association PALS Card at the beginning of class. You will not be permitted to attend the class, will not achieve re-certification, and will not be entitled to a refund if you are not in possession of a current, non-expired, American Heart Association PALS Card at the beginning of class.

Pre-requisiteYou MUST bring a copy of your CURRENT, VALID American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card to class. Please make a copy of your card, as we will be required to submit the copy with the course paperwork. Failure to do so will result in a delay or denial of your new certification.

Card Type:  American Heart Association PALS Provider Certification Card.  All students will be provided with evidence of completion. Students should receive their cards within 20 business days. In many cases, cards will be received much sooner, but please plan accordingly.
